Note by Director, BRPPA
The latest EU Framework Programme providing support for research projects, called Horizon 2020, has recently been launched, with €3 billion dedicated to SME research and innovation. This has been made more accessible to SMEs by removing the traditional barriers associated with previous Framework Programmes.
The SME instrument consists of three separate phases and a coaching and mentoring service for beneficiaries:
• Phase 1 – Concept and feasibility assessment
Lump sum of €50,000
• Phase 2 – R&D, demonstration, market replication
Between €0.5 and €2.5 million
12 – 24 months
• Phase 3 – Commercialisation

Pera Technology, a leading new product development contractor, based in Melton Mowbray, can help in winning support under this programme. They charge an upfront free of £5,000 to write and submit a proposal. Upon success in phase 1, they also require a £5,000 administration payment to project manage and administer the delivery of the feasibility phase. They will undertake to develop a detailed project proposal for phase 2, including consortium development and full bid writing/submission at no charge, with a £15,000 success fee. If you would like to know more, contact Ria Tunnicliffe at Pera on 01664 501 493.
BRPPA was a partner in the ‘SafeRubber’ consortium that was brought together by Pera and, under Pera project management , successfully identified a rubber curing molecule to replace ETU, with support from the EU under its previous Framework programme amounting to over €2 million. I can personally vouch for their professionalism and efficiency in bringing about a successful outcome to this project; please do not hesitate to get in touch with me on firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like any further advice about using them.
