Unfortunately the first course under the auspices of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining, run by Mr Charanjit Chodha on the lines of that he had successfully run on a private basis for the previous two years, had to be cancelled because of lack of numbers. In a sense this was a blessing in disguise because it would have had to be called off shortly after it had started. It provides the opportunity to address why it had been undersubscribed and what action can still be usefully taken to stimulate interest in the course in the future or adapt its components to a format that would be more popular.

We are not publicising any dates at the moment given the uncertainty about the course of the coronavirus outbreak and its impact on meetings and travel. The meetings of the Rubber and Polyurethane Elastomer Groups on 19 March had to be cancelled.  It is not envisaged that meetings of these Groups or of the Board will be held before the summer break. But it I hoped to hold these in the autumn. In the meantime remote meetings can be always be held as necessary.
